Brook Wigan is a Sexual Health and Wellbeing Service for under 25 year olds and is located in The Galleries shopping centre at the top of the escalators. It is very accessible and just a short walk from the train or bus station. We are open 7 days a week. Being primarily a walk-in service means there is no appointment needed to see one of our Clinicians. Our Clinic services include:

  • Emergency contraception (up to 5 days)
  • Contraceptive pill, injection and patch issuing
  • Contraceptive implant consultation
  • Contraceptive implant fitting and removal procedure
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Termination of pregnancy referrals (TOP)
  • STI screening (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea)
  • Chlamydia treatment
  • IUS/IUD consultation
  • IUS/IUD fitting and removal procedure
  • Condom issuing

Our clinic also provides Health & Wellbeing advice and support, below are some topics you might wish to talk to us about:

  • Healthy and unhealthy relationships
  • Consent, sex and the law and delay
  • Referrals for help to stop smoking
  • Referrals for drug and alcohol issues
  • Self-harm and mental health
  • Accessing counselling

The Brook Outreach Team work with vulnerable young people. Services the Brook Outreach Team can offer are:-

  • Support following pregnancy and termination of pregnancy (TOP)
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing
  • Chlamydia treatment
  • Contraceptive pill and patch
  • Contraceptive injection
  • Emergency hormonal contraception
  • Implant fit and removal consultations
  • Implant fit and removal
  • IUD/IUS consultations
  • Referral for termination of pregnancy (TOP)
  • Help and Wellbeing: Information around Relationships, Keeping yourself safe and Appropriateness.
  • Issue of condoms
  • Referral to relevant Services

The Outreach Team has the capacity to visit young people within the community ie homes, schools, colleges etc with a view to building a relationship and assisting the young person to access Brook clinic in the future. The Outreach Team can also book appointments in Brook clinic, this allows the young person to have an appointment with someone that they know, and they wouldn’t need to wait in the waiting room. Emma and Lisa would be happy to meet clients outside, or at the back door if necessary. It may also be beneficial on some occasions for the Outreach Team to attend joint visits with other professionals. To refer to the Outreach Team, please email [email protected].
