Photography Exhibition
Did you get the chance to attend the wonderful photography exhibition at Open Eye PhotoHub in Leigh?
This Must Be The Place was a truly special exhibition, showcasing the work of talented photographers who focused on the lives and stories of the Wigan community. Exploring themes such as place, belonging, and the climate crisis, the photographers highlighted diverse voices from the local community, including asylum seekers, young people, and students. This Must Be The Place captured the essence of what it means to belong and be part of something larger than ourselves.
The exhibition has really given us a chance to reflect on the incredible community we have right here in Makinson Arcade. Retailers like The Sewing Shop and Grace Accessories are already familiar favourites to many shoppers. Grace Accessories has been a staple in the town centre for 27 years, while The Sewing Shop has been a trusted place for clothing repairs in Wigan for 19 years. These businesses, alongside many others, are an integral part of our community that thrives within the historic Makinson Arcade.
We’re incredibly proud of our Arcade, a place that continues to flourish, thanks to the passion and dedication of local businesses and the wonderful people who make it all possible. The exhibition has been a perfect reminder of the deep connection we share as a community, and we’re excited to keep supporting initiatives that celebrate and strengthen these bonds
