New Pop-Up Shop Springs into Life

The Galleries has opened its new pop-up shop just in time for the Christmas rush.

Having worked over recent weeks to fit out a vacant store next to Uptown Diner in the Makinson Arcade, the new venture is now available for retailers to hire and it can be rented out on a weekly basis to business owners and start-up companies wanting to try out the local market.

Victoria Nichol, Centre Manager said: “Retail is fast changing and we are keen to identify any opportunities to develop new concepts which is why we are dedicating one unit in Makinson Arcade to this.

“Pop up trading is an increasingly popular practice and offers retailers an opportunity to test the waters with their retail business before committing to a longer term lease.”

Retailers can book a slot of up to six weeks in the space, which is fittingly named ‘The Pop-Up Shop’, and is part of the council’s plan to encourage new businesses to come to the town centre.

Jodie’s Flat, selling ladies’ fashion wear, is the first business to try out The Pop-Up Shop. Christine Roper, the owner of the business opened on Saturday 1st December and will be open throughout December, Monday to Saturday, 9am-5pm.

For enquiries about the Pop-Up shop contact the management centre located on the first floor or Mall solutions on 0161 711 0514.
